On July 13th I had the pleasure of being a part of Carla’s (and my first) Quincenera. It was a beautiful celebration of her 15th birthday and her transition from a girl to a woman. The ceremony took place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help near 33rd and Broadway in downtown Kansas City. It was an absolutely beautiful
church and Carla, her friends, and family were dressed to the nines for this significant event.
The hour-long ceremony was filled with prayers, speeches, traditional gifts, and blessings. After the ceremony and formal photos, they rode in style in a stretch Hummer to the Nelson-Atkins Museum where I met them for more fun, casual photos. It was a hot, yet beautiful day and we had a chance to take some awesome portraits.
Carla’s Quincenera was so much fun to shoot and I would love to do more in the future! Click on Quincenera if you would like to see the full gallery.
