So I feel it absolutely necessary to share with you all how I spent my very first minutes of the year 2013: Photographing a boy from Topeka proposing to a girl from Philly.
Everyone at The Eldridge Hotel was in on it. The bride to be, Ashley, thought I was asked
to shoot the Eldridge’s New Years event when in fact I approached the Eldridge and only needed a good reason to have my camera throughout the night. I roamed around “shooting their event” aka figuring out the perfect setup for the perfect shot.
At about 20 seconds to midnight, Garrett dropped down on his knee, and even though I know tears, cheering, and laughter were filling the Jayhawker all I remember is the sound of my camera and making sure every single photo was coming out just right.
Eldridge guests congratulated the newly engaged couple and bought them a bottle of champagne to celebrate- the best part? Ashley was unknowingly drinking virgin martinis since the moment we arrived at the Jayhawker. We had to make sure she wouldn’t be robbed of the memories to come at midnight. Here’s to Garrett and Ashley!
