Kent DiasAbeygunawardena + Emma Murano
I met Emma about two and half years ago through my college job at the Eldridge Hotel. I never thought I’d be photographing this beautiful bride and her husband on their wedding day in that same building.
Their story is one of those everybody hopes for. They met in a class in college, one that studies a topic they are both passionate about, and what started out as polite small talk over class material turned into an adventurous love story.
My first task once we signed our wedding contract, was to learn how to say Kent’s 19 letter last name. DiasAbeygunawardena. I thought my last name was challenging. I was just glad his first name is Kent.
They are one of the sweetest couples I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and if you would like to see the cutest engagement session picnic ever, take a look at the blog post and featured photos here.
There is a lot more I could say about Kent + Emma, but I will let them tell you a bit about their story themselves:
1. How did you first meet? What’s the ‘story’ that by now you’ve told at least 34 times?
In our Industrial Design program at the University of Kansas. Kent kept trying to get to know Emma but she wouldn’t take a hint. The whole class watched as the two became closer and eventually were inseparable.
2. What really describes you as a couple since you’ve been dating? What brings and keeps you together?
We are a team, constantly making, doing, and creating our lives. What brings us together is curiosity in the world around us and what keeps us together is the value of having a sidekick and lover in the adventure of life.
3. What was both of your favorite parts of your wedding day?
Kent- watching Emma walk down the aisle towards him to finally become his wife.
Emma- when Kent popped the champagne bottle, it felt like a true celebration and was a moment of pure excitement with my husband.
4. What is the best marriage advice you’ve received so far, or is there a quote or verse that you love?
Emma- “Oh darling, lets be adventurers”
Kent-“Happy wife, happy life”
Congratulations you two! Thank you for letting us be a part of your big day.
