It was a beautiful day for football, and the traditional Marching Band uniforms were back. It was Band Day, which meant that several local marching bands got the chance to join KU’s band in the stands on the field to experience the game day atmosphere.
The game was decent and the stadium was close to full, and little did we know
it’d be a tie-it-up with 1:30 left and nail a 52-yard field goal with 2 seconds left on the clock, kind of game. The stadium erupted and the Jayhawks came out with an exciting win, thanks to (now well-known) Kansas kicker Matthew Wyman.
This was an exciting day for the band too, as they got to reveal what their brand new uniforms are going to look like starting with the 2014 season. The current uniforms have been in use for ten years and although costly, Marching Jayhawks faculty have decided it’s time for a change. They will feature traditional crimson and blue colors with a militaristic style and and updated KU identity. Take a look at the new design and show your support by donating to the $300k+ campaign!
