Winter Storm in Kansas City

The snow storms that hit Kansas City in mid to late February were two of the biggest ones the midwestern city had seen in a long time. With up to 15 inches of snow and wind gusts strong enough to knock you down into a snow angel, most of the residents

in Kansas City didn’t dare try to leave home.

I did, camera in hand, and it was definitely an adventure. Getting to the spot where I wanted to compose my photo from was easily the most difficult part, as I was sinking into snow that came up to my knees. A few of the images were taken at Shawnee Mission Park, which ended up being my favorite spot. With such a massive amount of snow on the ground, you were surrounded by a clean, untouched version of the busy environment you see everyday.

Our three to four hour adventure driving around Kansas City in the aftermath of this massive storm proved to be worthwhile, leaving me with beautiful shots of a rare occurrence and a new canvas print on my wall.
